Grassroots Collaboration
We take pride in the fact that unlike any other site of this nature, we’ve been able to build everything you see as a volunteer, collaborative effort. In fact, the only costs we’ve run in to are server costs, but everything else (graphics, code, editors and all other staff) is run by a 100% volunteer team.
This is ground breaking in that it shows what a true grassroots effort can do. We’ve been able to prove that grassroots, collaborative efforts can create powerful online communities and web properties.
It’s all about YOU!
People just like you are the reason we’ve been able to do what we do. Our team has been able to design, develop, publish, network, collaborate, strategize and coordinate what used to require an army of paid staffers, all without a dime spent. We want to do a lot more, though, and this will require YOUR help!
What’s in it for me?
Good question. First, you’ll be a part of a fast moving, high energy team who believes in free-markets. One of our major goals with the News Platoon specifically is to investigate and expose corruption at the local level. By getting involved and helping us build a high profile, extremely proactive news site, you’ll be playing an intricate role in helping us do just that.
Plus, many of our positions, beginning on February 1st, include revenue sharing. That’s right! Beginning February 1st, 2009, News Platoon will be sharing revenue on all content pages with the author, the state editor, and the regional coordinators.

Position: State Editors
Details: As state editor, you’ll be responsible for all of the content of your state News Platoon. You’ll want to work with existing writers, recruit new writers, host monthly state blogger conference calls, build email campaigns, etc.
State editors are the “captain” of the ship when it comes to a state based News Platoon.
Paid Position: State editors receive a generous percentage of advertising profits that come through his/her site.

Position: Political Strategy
Details: Starting in June of 2009, we’ll be responding to a lot of the local content/stories coming across the News Platoon websites. When we see a story come up that needs some weight thrown in its direction, we’ll have a political strategy team put together a plan, working with our communications team of course, to go in and provide national organization back up in exposing and expanding the reach of the story.

Position: News Platoon Writers/Bloggers
Details: Our writers/bloggers are going to be the bread and butter of News Platoon. YOU are the ones who investigate and write the content. YOU are the ones who will help us knock corrupt school board members out of power, expose outrageous spending and abuse of power, and uncover news across your state.
You’ll be joining a team of people just like yourself to build a grassroots minded news portal for your state. This will be a great opportunity to expand your online influence, promote your own blog, and perhaps make a little money as well.
